history,

    beginning        higurashi kagome, born april 4th 1982. born to a lineage greater than she would ever know, & a destiny that is unfathomably vast. something stirred within her on her 15th birthday, the urge to go to the well after searching for her pet... she peers within the goshinboku, & is dragged by the beast, mistress centipede. at the other end of the well was a strange feeling of nostalgia for a place she’s never been. reading about it in history books & her grandfather’s lessons, kagome knew just where she was... she had somehow landed herself in the sengoku jidai, an era in which she’s never lived or experienced, there was no turning back now. after arriving in the past, kagome meets the half-demon, inuyasha. it’s where she gets her first rude awakening- inuyasha attacks her, exclaiming that she is the woman who killed him, a fallen priestess named kikyo. after subduing inuyasha with the help of kaede, kagome learns the truth about her connection to kikyo- that she was the reincarnation of the shikon jewel’s protector. it was then that kagome had learned that those lessons her grandfather gave her, are much more than fairytales. due to being the reincarnation of kikyo, kagome finds herself in the path of danger more often than not, seeking her out for the sacred jewel & it’s power.    destiny        due to being the new guardian of the sacred jewel, kagome has become rather famous in the sengoku jidai. word gets around fast- & she is quickly accosted for the jewel. in some cruel, odd twist of fate... kagome had gotten kidnapped by bandits, which were truthfully possessed by a crow demon. once this was revealed, it had seperated itself from it's host, managing to steal the jewel from kagome without much of a struggle. her first loss was having the jewel taken away from her. it isn't long until she catches up with her now friend-or-foe acquaintance, inuyasha, that he insists that he help retrieve the jewel. at least with his help... they were able to significantly slow the demon down, inuyasha clawing it's foot off & injuring the creature near fatally, if it hadn't been for the jewel. kagome is desperate to get it back to stop wreaking havoc, & so... she has the brilliant idea to attach the now amputated foot of the crow, helping it strike the crow before it transformed into a greater demon. in doing so, however... the jewel was also struck by the arrow. the jewel shatters, into hundreds, if not millions of pieces. kagome & inuyasha, while begrudingly, set out to complete the jewel once more.      journeying together        along with inuyasha & kagome’s newfound journey in seeking out the jewel shards, they meet new members of their ever-growing party. shippo, a kitsune who had lost his parents. miroku, a monk that was in search of ending his curse, that of which threatened his life every day. & sango, her village wiped out by a single demon... naraku it’s revealed to the group that naraku is behind most, if not all of their miseries. inuyasha’s initial betrayal to kikyo, miroku’s curse, sango’s village... it is all done by this malevolent being. naraku, a half-demon seeking out the jewel for himself, consistantly seeks to foil inuyasha & kagome, their meetings resulting in near-fatal outcomes.    towards tomorrow        after the completion of the defiled shikon jewel ,  the final battle for it's purity begins .    in the last legs of the battle ,  kagome declares that it was her destiny to fight naraku ,  and to purify the hurt & hate within him .    it isn't until the jewel is wished away by kagome ,  that her greatest foe finally finds peace . however, due to the jewel's hidden fail safe... the wish kagome makes is not the correct one, as there is no one correct wish can be made. power cannot be created or destroyed, & so... the jewel, while no longer existing to the human eye- exists inside of kagome as a divine organ, forever intertwined with her body. kagome had become a victim to it's design after all. due to this, kagome's aging had crawled to almost a stand-still. she no longer ages normally, & ages much more like the great yokai around her. the only time her age seems to inch forward is when she approaches the goshinboku, in which demons are sealed. the goshinboku itself acts almost like a purgatory, in which time does not exist. it continues to be a passage way to the past and to the future... but, kagome does not use it in fear of never being able to go back to either side.

abilities,

    immense spiritual power        kagome has infinite spiritual power hidden within her. her high-level spiritual power is eventually greater than that of kikyo, however, as she has had no proper training, she has a hard time wielding such power. kagome's powers shine weakly colored pink initially, almost a juvenile color— due to magatsuhi sealing her powers, it never had a different color until the seal was broken and her soul was completed. after the final death of kikyo, her abilities started to shine a bright, radiant blue, and it was much more potent.    spiritual barriers        kagome is able to erect a barrier against evil, which serves as a defensive and offensive attack . the range which her barrier reaches is currently unknown .    spiritual projection        kagome is able to gather her spiritual energy within her palms for a quick offense ,  & it is first observed with her encounter with mistress centipede .    she also uses this ability to purifye the sacred jewel .    archery        due to being a reincarnation of both kikyo & midoriko ,  kagome inherited their past abilities and is able to strike down her enemies with one arrow .    it is noted that instead of just putting in her spiritual energy into her sacred arrow ,  kagome uses her soul to directly strike evil ,  which makes her exhausted after battles .    hand to hand combat        while not versed in close combat ,  kagome is able to defend herself from foes by using strength to push them off of her being .    she normally does not encounter enemies within close range .    purification        kagome subconsciously releases pure spiritual power- constantly warding off threats from herself & the group, and effectively purifying malevolent forces, such as demonic energies or miasma. kagome's spiritual power, while massive on it's own, is much more effective when she can channel it into her tools, such as her sacred arrows.    time travel        magatsuhi, the original evil of the jewel, had sealed kagome's powers out of fear. after the defeat of magatsuhi, kagome's full potential was released as a result. while kagome is now the final resting place of the jewel and is now an auxillary organ— it is noted by princess kaguyanthat kagome's aura does not align itself with the flow of time, making any time-stopping spells ineffective on her.

in my portrayal ,  kagome is the final host for the power of the shikon jewel ,  as she intends on being sealed with it .    she does not age normally due to the influence of the goshinboku & the power of the jewel itself .    if fifty or a hundred years pass by ,  for kagome ,  it will only seem like one or even none ,  depending on how recently she used the goshinboku to travel between eras .    however ,  the goshinboku will always go back and forth 500 years ,  or to different eras ,  effectively trapping her in a loop of never aging .  PROLOGUE ,   when i think of you‚ it’s enough to make my heart grow stronger .  
( ages : 15 - 17 )    on the day of her 15th birthday ,  higurashi kagome got ready for school like any other day .    it wasn't until something ached in her ribs ,  & the strong urge to check the family shrine that changed the course of her destiny forever .  dragged down by a demon known as mistress centipede ,  the sacred jewel was clawed out of her ribs ,  it's purity delicately shining ,  even when tarnished by dirt and grime .    it was then that she discovered that she was burdened with a great destiny ...  ARC ONE ,   my distant voice will reach you someday .  
( ages : 18 - 21 )    higurashi kagome wishes the shikon jewel away ,  forever .    in her seemingly innocent wish ,  she destroyed the jewel ,  banishing the evil within it .  however ,  the shikon never truly grants the user's wishes ,  even if they had good intentions .    despite kagome defeating the greatest evil ...  the jewel's immense power wouldn't simply disappear as she had wished .    power could not be created or destroyed...  and therefore ,  the jewel then chose kagome to host it's power .    after the defeat of naraku ,  kagome is then summoned back to her time by the goshinboku ,  where she is to remain for three years ,  trapped on the other side .    after one faithful day ,  she feels the power of the well stir .  ARC TWO ,   my heartbeat turns into heartbreak at the thought of eternity .  
( ages : 22 - PRESENT DAY )    after discovering that she can travel between the two eras ,  kagome spends most of her time in the feudal era to hone her abilities .  however, even as times change within the feudal era ...  she did not .    few mused that it was the power of the goshinboku ,  and how it's demonic aura melded with hers ,  making her near immortal and reminiscent of previous incarnations of the shikon jewel .    as time didn't pass through kagome ,  but around her ,  it was the only acceptable explanation ...  she tested her theory ,  resisting on using the goshiboku to see her family ,  and it seemed like time had finally moved forward ,  even if it was as much as a milimeter .  with this new knowledge ,  kagome treads very carefully ,  and solemnly uses the ability to travel between eras due to this .

  JUJUTSU KAISEN ,   always the fool with the slowest heart .   ages : 15-20+

every 500 years, a powerful cursed object reincarnates into the physical world, the jewel of four souls------------ otherwise referred to as the sacred jewel. it's written in history books that the priestess of the old world, midoriko, had created the cursed object by fighting malignancy itself, magatsuhi. she could not defeat magatsuhi, nor destroy him, so for 7 days and 7 nights, midoriko sealed them both in the sacred jewel, trapping both herself and the cursed spirit within the jewel. the sacred jewel is considered a special grade object, as it's goal is to further evolve other cursed spirits beyond their natural prowess. if a cursed spirit even as small as a crow were to absorb the sacred jewel, it would threaten the world as they know it.        in-depth post.

higurashi kagome wasn't always necessarily fortunate... from a young age, she knew she was different. from seeing spirits, to getting glimpses of the past---------- she was much more bizarre than your average child. after her mother got word of someone who may be able to help kagome ( a blonde stranger... ), she was uprooted from the heart of tokyo & moved to karakura town at the age of 5, her family taking over the town's shrine as it's care-takers. kagome, while being able to see spirits & interact with the world beyond, never quite drew attention until one faithful day... her 15th birthday.        in-depth post.
